Ashwagandha commonly known Withania somnifera belonging to family Solanaceae. Ashwagandha contains bioactive compounds namely withaferin-A (WA), 12-deoxywithastramonolide (WO) and withanolide-A (WD). ashwagandhanolide is also found in root and leaves of the ashwagandha. It has adaptogenic, antisedative, anticonvulsive and antioxidant activities.
