KOLKATA: At the 2013 Global India Business Meeting, currently being held at Belfast UK, Mr Sanjiv Goenka was honoured on Monday with the coveted "2013 Indian Business Leader of the Year" award in the presence of 300 delegates from India and Northern Ireland business houses, as also government officials.
The Global India Business Meeting is the foremost gathering of Indian business leaders and their global counterparts. The object is to create a powerful platform for cooperation between India and the rest of the world.
This award is in recognition of the success of his business enterprise and to acknowledge his position as an outstanding entrepreneur in India.
The Rs 14,000 crore RP-Sanjiv Goenka Group, of which Goenka is the Chairman, is active in power ( CESCBSE -1.27 %), coal mining ( ICML), carbon black (Phillips Carbon Black), organized retail (Spencer's), Music & Entertainment (Saregama India) and business process outsourcing ( Firstsource SolutionsBSE -1.41 %). Currently, the Group's annual revenue is US $2.5 billion, with assets of US $4.3 billion and profits of over US $220 million.
At Belfast, the 2013 Indian Business Leader Award was handed over to Mr Sanjiv Goenka by Anand Sharma, Union Minister of Commerce & Industry.
