Empowering Indian toys and games micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) is the theme for the 10th Toy Biz B2B Exhibition scheduled to kick-off from July 02, informed the Toy Association of India (TAI) in a media invite in New Delhi.
The 10th Toy Biz B2B Exhibition is scheduled to be held during 2-4 July, 2017 at Hall Nos. 8,9 & 10, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
Every year the Toy Association of India (TAI) organizes Toy Biz International B2B Fairs for child related products to showcase the products of Indian Toy Manufacturers to both domestic and foreign buyers.
TAI is an apex body of the Toy Fraternity in India representing over 500 industry members. Most of the members are predominantly Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises.
The Indian toy industry is estimated at about USD 400 million and has capture only 0.5 percent of the global market.
Imports of cheep toys from China is the biggest challenge before the Indian toy makers. The industry largely consists of MSMES and only 10 percent of the market is served by Indian manufacturers, and the rest by imports mainly from China.
Media reports that under the proposed GST rates, toys like tricycles, scooters and pedal cars, among others (including parts and accessories thereof) come under 12 percent tax bracket, while electronic toys including parts and accessories thereof fall under the 18 percent tax bracket.
To make toy makers more aware about the new GST rules, TAI is also organizing a special get-together networking dinner for exhibitors and members on 29th May.
