Village Rice is a miracle made possible by modern agricultural science. The development of a polished white rice variety with high fibre content is a novel concept which has not been successfully achieved by other agricultural scientists in the country. After years of painstaking research we have developed a rice variety – Village Rice – that contains 16% dietary fibre content even after polishing. This variety has been developed by the application of classical plant breeding techniques like mutation breeding, hybridisation and selection coupled with intense bio chemical screening methods. The mutations discovered through intensive research at our experimental farm has potential to enhance dietary fibre upto 15% and High Protein 14% and resistant starch upto 8 percent in rice there by reducing its glycemic index to a low status
