MBBR media (Moving Bed Biofilm Reactor media) are small plastic carrier elements used in biological wastewater treatment processes to support the growth of microorganisms. These carriers move freely inside the aeration tank and provide a large surface area for bacteria to attach and form a biofilm. The microorganisms growing on the media break down organic pollutants such as BOD and COD in sewage or wastewater. MBBR media are usually made from high-density polyethylene (HDPE), which is lightweight, durable, and resistant to chemicals. They are widely used in sewage treatment plants (STP) and effluent treatment plants (ETP) because they improve treatment efficiency, require less space, and are easy to maintain.
