DM Plant (Demineralization Plant)

Description

Demineralization Plant (DM Plant) is a water purification system used to remove dissolved minerals, salts, and ionic impurities from water to produce high-purity demineralized water for industrial applications. The plant generally operates using ion-exchange technology, where raw water passes through cation and anion exchange columns filled with specialized resins that replace dissolved ions with hydrogen (H?) and hydroxide (OH?) ions. These ions combine to form pure water, resulting in water with very low conductivity and almost no dissolved solids. DM plants are commonly used for boiler feed water, pharmaceuticals, laboratories, and power plants, where high-quality water is required. Technical specifications (typical DM plant design): Plant capacity: about 500 LPH (litres per hour) or higher depending on design. DM water output per regeneration: about 4000 litres. Regeneration interval: approximately 8 hours of operation. Regeneration time: about 3 hours. Operating pressure: around 2 kg/cm². Product water conductivity: < 1 µS/cm. pH of treated water: about 6–7. Construction material: FRP pressure vessels with PVC piping and multi-port valves. Regeneration chemicals: hydrochloric acid (HCl) for cation resin and sodium hydroxide (NaOH) for anion resin. These DM plants are designed to remove almost all dissolved ions such as calcium, magnesium, sodium, chloride, and sulfate, producing high-purity water with very low total dissolved solids suitable for industrial processes.
