Bharti Airtel CMD Sunil Mittal and Essar Group promoter Ravi Ruia Wednesday appeared before a Delhi court following the summons issued to them in a case relating to alleged irregularities in allocation of 2G spectrum.
Central Bureau of Investigation Special Court Judge O.P. Saini posted the matter for April 16 after Mittal's counsel placed before him the Supreme Court order that postponed the proceedings of the case till April 16.
Former Telecom Secretary Shyamal Ghosh also appeared in the court.
The Supreme Court had earlier offered partial relief to Mittal, Ruia, Ghosh and four others by directing the 2G case trial court to put off hearing against them till April 16.
Hearing Mittal's plea, the court had said it would examine April 15 whether he could be named by the CBI as an accused in the case and be summoned by the trial court here to appear before it.
Mittal challenged in the apex court the order of the special court summoning him in the 2G case.
The trial court had issued summons for April 11 after taking cognizance of the charge sheet filed against mobile firms Bharti Airtel, Vodafone and Sterling Cellular for the alleged irregularities.
