NEW DELHI: Ashutosh Karnatak, Executive Director (Projects) at GAILBSE 0.75 % India, was today selected to become the next Director (Projects) at the state-owned gas utility.
Government headhunter, The Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB), after interviewing 12 shortlisted candiates chose Karnatak to replace R D Goyal in March 2014, PESB said on its website.
R D Goyal retires as Director (Project) of GAIL on Febrary 28, 2014 on attaining super-annuation age of 60 years.
Karnatak, a post-graduate in energy studies from IIT Delhi and a PhD in management, presently heads the Project Execution Department in GAIL.
PESB said among those it interviewed included eight Executive Directors at GAIL and one each at Indian Oil Corp ( IOCBSE 0.50 %) and Bharat Petroleum Corp Ltd ( BPCLBSE 0.34 %).
The PESB recommendation will now go to the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas which after Oil Minister M Veerapa Moily concurs will seek CVC and CBI clearance before sending Karnatak's candidature to the Cabinet Commiteee on Appointments headed by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh. He will be appointed Director (Projects), GAIL once ACC approves.
The P.E.S.B has been set up with the objective of evolving a sound managerial policy for the Central Public Sector Enterprises and, in particular, to advise Government on appointments to their top management posts.
