Mumbai, Mar 24 (KNN) With at least two of the companies listed on it gaining almost 20 per cent in a single day, the market capitalisation of the firms listed and traded on the BSE SME platform has crossed Rs 5500 crore. In fact, the market cap took a leap of Rs 500 crore in a matter of 14 days.
On March-10, as the sensex touched the 22000 mark, the small companies listed on the BSE SME platform reached market capitalization in the kissing range of Rs 5,000 crore.
In trading today, top gainers were SI VI which gained by 19.72 per cent, ALSI by 19.58, Tentiwal WIR by 11.98 and UNISHIRE by 8.14 per cent.
On the other hand, losers were MMLF with (-) 4.98 per cent, KCS LTD with (-) 4.89, Looks Health with (-) 4.54 per cent and Ashapura Intimates with (-) 3.02 per cent.
Of the 50 companies listed on the platform, the number of companies actively traded is just about 24 underscoring the need for a lot more work to be done to popularize the alternative avenue for market trading.
