SRINAGAR: Essar Steel, a subsidiary ofEssar group, today said the environment inKashmir was conducive for investments but the valley needed to develop infrastructure to achieve its potential.
"Environment is conducive for investments in Kashmir and that is why I am personally here," Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Essar Steel India Dilip Oommen told reporters here.
Oomen said Kashmir needs a lot of investment in infrastructure and development and the company would like to partner with the state in this development in a big way.
"There is a lot of potential for the market to develop which we feel has not developed yet and we will take a lot of initiatives for that," he said.
Announcing the launch of colour-coated roofing products specially for Jammu and Kashmirmarket, Oomen said, "the state is a big market for us and we are sure that we will be able to create a mark for our brand in this market."
He said Kashmir has enormous potential in the use of steel and Essar is one of the few corporate houses which has realised this potential.
He said the product range that Essar offers is specially designed for extreme weather conditions in Jammu and Kashmir.
