Flipkart announces new B2B app Reset for Business for sellers of refurbished products

Starting with refurbished smartphones and accessories with warranty benefits, Flipkart said the app will cater to retailers across India who are looking to buy refurbished phones and accessories in varied quantities with no minimum order quantity restrictions.
Ahead of its annual festive sale Big Billion Days, e-commerce company Flipkart on Tuesday announced its new business-to-business (B2B) app Flipkart Reset for Business for sellers offering refurbished products. Starting with refurbished smartphones and accessories with warranty benefits, Flipkart said the app will cater to retailers across India who are looking to buy refurbished phones and accessories in varied quantities with no minimum order quantity restrictions.

The launch comes on the back of surging demand for refurbished products particularly in tier 2 and 3 cities. However, sellers of refurbished products face significant challenges, including consumer skepticism about quality of refurbished products, inconsistent device supply, complex logistics, and a lack of standardized refurbishment practices, Flipkart said.

The company said the app provides rigorous testing and a 74-point quality check with a warranty on every product along with deals and event-based offers for sellers on the platform. It also provides pan-India service network for delivery and doorstep pick up service in case there is an issue with the device and dedicated support for guidance on product selection, promotions, and post-purchase assistance.

According to a RedSeer report in 2022, the refurbished electronics good market in the country is likely to grow from $5 billion in 2021 to $11 billion in 2026.

“This presents a massive opportunity for sellers of refurbished products. With the B2B app from Flipkart Reset, Flipkart aims to level the playing field for sellers by offering a platform to tap into this demand. By providing access to high-quality and affordable refurbished products seamlessly, we’re empowering sellers with an organized market while promoting sustainable consumption,” said Ashutosh Singh Chandel, Senior Director & Business Head, Recommerce at Flipkart.

The app is servicing over 800 cities across 29 states. Sellers with refurbished goods can register on the app with their Goods and Services Tax (GST) or Shop Establishment certificate.

Flipkart’s Big Billion Days sale and Amazon’s Great Indian Festival sale start September 27 this year.
