The Food Security Bill is likely to be taken up for discussion in Lok Sabha on Monday, even as AIADMK said it will oppose the bill in its present form.
"The House will function tomorrow (Saturday). But a large of members and leaders have stated that they are going to be away...Many members and leaders want to speak on the Food Security Bill," Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kamal Nath told reporters outside Parliament House on Friday.
"So they have requested the Speaker that the Food Security Bill should not be taken up tomorrow, but on Monday. So the Bill will be taken up on Monday," he added.
Asked about extension of the session beyond 30th August when it is scheduled to end, the Minister said Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs will meet soon to decide on the issue.
On Friday, Lok Sabha Speaker Meira Kumar suspended 12 MPs from Andhra Pradesh for five days over disruption of House proceeding.
