H Balasubramaniam appointed Xylem India managing director

VADODARA: Leading global water technology company Xylem Inc on Tuesday announced the appointment of H Balasubramaniam as its new managing director for India operations. 

Xylem's plant is located at Savli on the outskirts of Vadodara city. 

Balasubramanian (Bala) joins Xylem from
General Electric, where he spent more than 15 years, most recently as Business Director of the company's locomotive projects, and prior to that as the Chief Executive Officer of GE Water Process and Technologies, South Asia. 

He replaces 
Sam Yamdagni, who is leaving the company. "Bala's extensive global operations expertise and his success in growing GE's water business in India fit perfectly with our need to develop further in this important growth market," said Steve Loranger, CEO and President of Xylem Inc. 

"We will look to him to build on the foundation we've established, leveraging our talented team to help our existing and new customers in India and solve their most challenging water issues," he said. 

Xylem employs 200 people in India and operates a manufacturing and testing facility as well as a Research, Development and Engineering Centre in Vadodara. 

The company also has sales and service facilities in Mumbai, Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi,
Kolkata and Pune. The company has participated in a number of high-profile water projects in the power, industrial, irrigation and water and wastewater treatment sectors in India, including receipt of a contract to provide water transport systems to a Andhra Pradeshirrigation project.
