New Delhi, May 12 (KNN) Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) have the potential to create jobs and also to harness new market opportunities, a senior United Nation Official said at a high level meeting.
UN Secretary General’s Chef de Cabinet, Maria Luiza Ribeiro Viotti in a press statement said that the MSME sectors are the world’s most powerful job creators and contributes to the productivity of an economy. The Official also recognized the need to invest more in these enterprises in order to achieve sustainable development goals (SDGs).
She further spoke of the important step taken by United Nations to dedicate 27th June as the International MSME day, indicating the importance of the sector.
She was addressing the first Small Business Knowledge Summit at the United Nations Headquarters in New York organized collaboratively by the Permanent Mission of Argentina to United Nations, the International Council for Small Business and the UN Office for Partnerships.
Also Linda McMahon, Administrator of the United States Business Administration was present at the event along with a team of government ministers and representatives and experts from the industry.
The Sumit held important discussions concerning the MSME sector and also looked at the latest global entrepreneurial trends. (KNN/ DA)
