Visakhapatnam, Mar 2 (KNN) As many as 45 units from all over Visakhapatnam participated in the NTPC vendor development programme conducted here today.
The event was organised by MSME Development Institute in association with the NTPC, Simhadri at the Andhra Chamber of Commerce in Dondaparty.
Commenting on the programme, “It created awareness about NTPC’s requirements of items and products. Moreover, the units were able to interact with the NTPC officials and learn the process of registration,” Programme Coordinator, MSME Development Institute, DVSR Murthy told KNN.
The discussions also laid considerable emphasis on the public procurement policy of the government which makes it mandatory to procure at least 20 per cent of their requirements from the MSMEs.
Various manufacturers who are interested in supplying products to NTPC attended the programme.
NTPC, India's largest power company, was set up in 1975 to accelerate power development in India. It is emerging as an ‘Integrated Power Major’, with a significant presence in the entire value chain of power generation business.
NTPC ranked 337th in the ‘2012, Forbes Global 2000’ ranking of the World’s biggest companies. With a current generating capacity of 42,464 MW, NTPC plans to become a 128,000 MW company.
