Odisha govt proposes industrial zone

 BHUBANESWAR: The state government will submit a project proposal to the Centre for development of national investment and manufacturing zone (NIMZ) at Kalinga Nagar soon, minister for micro small and medium enterprises (MSME) Damodar Rout told the assembly on Friday.



The minister said IDCO has been asked to prepare the project proposal and submit it to the Centre after its approval by the state government. He said the government was targeting to acquire 5,000 acres of land for development of NIMZ in the industrial complex at Jajpur. 

He said NIMZ would offer all benefits and facilities to interested entrepreneurs as stated in the state government's industrial policy resolution (IPR)-2007, MSME development policy-2009 and the Centre's national manufacturing policy. Besides, there are provisions to provide advanced infrastructure, road, water, power, skill development centre, common tool and training centre, testing laboratory, Industrial Township and industrial park. 

The minister said, according to NIMZ policy of the centre, such zone would be among the best integrated manufacturing hubs in the world and aims to help the country attain global presence in the manufacturing domain. He said the state government considering the demand of land for the NIMZ has identified Kalinga Nagar industrial complex for its development. 

Rout informed the House that for the industrial complex, the government had already acquired over 13,400 acres at Kalinga Nagar. Of the total land, the government had already allotted over 8,900 acres of land to different industries, outside of its growth centre. Those who availed land at this place include NINL, Tata steel, Jindal Stainless Ltd, Mideast, Visa Steel Ltd and Uttam Galva Steels Ltd.
