Over 75,000 B2B export orders secured by exhibitors at UP International Trade Show

MSMEs in Uttar Pradesh: The inaugural Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show 2023 saw over 75,000 business-to-business (B2B) orders secured by exhibitors during the five-day event (September 21-25), according to a report by Asian News International. The event held at the India Expo Center and Mart in Greater Noida witnessed more than 3 lakh visitors.

Moreover, more than 200 stalls were exhibited with the participation of more than 300 women entrepreneurs from the state. Additionally, female entrepreneurs who established their ventures under the Uttar Pradesh Livelihood Mission also showcased their products. During the event, MSME Minister Narayan Rane emphasized the ongoing development across various sectors in the state. The minister noted that India is expected to become the third largest economy by 2030 and Uttar Pradesh will have a major role to play, according to a PTI report.  

The per capita income of citizens needs to be improved to tackle migration, Rane said as he drew a reference to the per capita income of the US and India to stress the need for economic growth in order for people to be able to live a better life.

On the other hand, in her inaugural address, President Droupadi Murmu noted that Uttar Pradesh ranked first among all the states in the country with more than 96 lakh MSMEs. Murmu also highlighted that more than 200 manufacturers from the state were displaying their products, and more than 400 buyers from 66 countries were participating in the event, making the trade show a medium to support local manufacturers and small businesses and providing exposure to the national and international markets.

Exhibitors from sectors such as agriculture and horticulture, defence corridor, e-commerce, banking and financial services, education (universities, sciences, technology, engineering, and mathematics), infrastructure, engineering and manufacturing, and more displayed their products during the trade show.

Uttar Pradesh has 18.25 lakh Udyam-registered MSMEs, according to Udyam platform. The most populous state in the country, Uttar Pradesh has 53 Geographical Indicator Tags (GI), of which 40 are crafts, according to the Office of the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademarks, under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade. 

During the UP Global Investors Summit, held in February this year, roadshows were conducted in 17 countries, as a result of which the state received investment proposals worth Rs 36 lakh crore, according to Nand Gopal Nandi, Industrial Development and Export Promotion Minister of Uttar Pradesh Government.
