Philips India MD Rajeev Chopra elevated for global role

KOLKATA: Philips IndiaBSE 1.24 % CEO and MD Rajeev Chopra has been elevated into a global role as the chief of the Dutch firm's consumer luminaire business. Chopra will be relocating to Brussels and will be replaced by Krishna Kumar as the new MD and CEO with effect from December. 

Krishna Kumar is currently president and head of Philips healthcare business in India. A successor for his current role is yet to be identified in Philips India. "We would ensure that Philips India continue to build the business and retain the brand value of Philips of being an innovative company that cares," said Krishna Kumar. 

Mr. Krishna Kumar joined Philips in June 2010 as the healthcare business head, with two MBA degrees from IIM Ahmedabad and Kellog School of Management. His experience spans across India, 
USA, Japan and China in leadership positions at Coopers & Lybrand Consulting, HSBC Investment Banking, Microland and more recently at Johnson & Johnson's Healthcare division.
