Secy DIPP to head inter-ministerial panel on MSME

 The government Monday set up an Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC), headed by Saurabh Chandra, Secretary, Department of Industrial Policy and Promotion (DIPP), to address the issues of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector and suggest ways to boost the manufacturing in the sector.

"The Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) for accelerating manufacturing in the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Sector will be headed by the DIPP Secretary, Saurabh Chandra," a Commerce Ministry statement said Monday.

The panel will submit its recommendations within one month, it added.

Earlier, a meeting was organised by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Textile on March 15, 2013 where the Cabinet Secretary Ajit Seth reviewed and interacted with the stakeholders regarding exports of goods from MSME Sector.

In order to examine the suggestions received from the participants in the meeting, an Inter-Ministerial Committee has been set up, it said.

Along with Chairman of Committee, Saurabh Chandra other members are Madhav Lal, Secretary, MSME, Dr. M Sarangi, Secretary, Ministry of Labour, Rakesh Kacker, Secretary, Ministry of Food Processing Industries, Zohra Chatterji, Secretary, Ministry of Textiles. The Committee may associate such other members as required.

The Committee will be serviced by the Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, it added. The Committee will submit its recommendations within one month.
