SHIMLA: Hydropower giant Sutlej Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Union Ministry of Power for generating 6930 million units of energy during 2013-14 under excellent parameters.
The MoU signed between P Uma Shankar, Secretary (Power) Government of India and R P Singh, CMD,SJVNBSE 0.53 % envisaged revenue realisation of Rs 1783 crore and net profit of Rs 790 crore during the year.
The power generation from the Nathpa project was pegged at 6875 MU while the upcoming Khirvire project was expected to produce 47.6 MW of power.
The MoU targets for providing training in Skill Development to 300 youth, farmers, women and disabled persons to promote employability and self employment through Industrial Training Institutes(ITIs) and other accredited agencies.
SJVN will also organise 10 health camps and provide skill development to 100 persons besides providing Health Services to old age, disabled and women at their door steps and would also organise 4 Mobile Medical Units and 20 Specialised Health Camps in the backward project areas.
During the year, a budget provision of 1.3 per cent of the Profit After Tax (PAT) has been made for expenditure on various CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and Sustainable Development activities in the affected project areas.
Besides, a provision of 0.5 per cent of the PAT has been made for Research and development.
