Sri City signs MoU with MAIT to develop EMC Park

CHENNAI: Sri City, South India's largest integrated business city consisting of a special economic zone, today signed a memorandum of understanding with Manufacturers' Association for Information Technology (MAIT) to develop an electronics hardware manufacturing cluster (EMC Park).

This would enable MAIT members and other electronics manufacturers to set up facilities to address the domestic and export market.

Sri City would provide 100 acres of land for the Park in the first phase, and subject to demand, an additional 50 acres in the second phase.

"Our association with Sri City will aid manufacturers to avail the creme of facilities at their disposal," MAIT President J V Ramamurthy said.

Sri City Managing Director
Ravindra Sannareddy said, "The domestic demand for the electronics hardware industry is estimated to reach over USD 400 billion by 2020 resulting in a huge opportunity for India to become an electronic hardware manufacturing hub after China.

"Sensing this opportunity and the proposed Electronics Manufacturing Cluster Scheme, Sri City has tied up with MAIT to jointly work towards developing the
EMC Park".
