HYDERABAD: Hyderabad collector Syed Ali Murtuza Rizvi has appealed to LPG customers to submit Aadhaar card details to both LPG dealers and banks.
After launching the Hyderabad District Annual Credit Plan for 2013-14 at the Collectorate here on Saturday, the collector said that there were 13 lakh LPG customers in Hyderabad district.
"Most of them have submitted their Aadhaar card details to LPG dealers. However, only 15% customers have given their Aadhaar card details to banks. As a result, customers may lose the LPG subsidy. If the details are given to banks, it will be easy for the National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to deposit the LPG subsidy directly into the accounts of customers," he said.
The collector said that customers have to visit their banks and provide a photo copy of their Aadhaar card details too. However, it was the duty of banks to insist that their customers provide Aadhaar details. Banks have to send alert SMSs to their customers seeking the Aadhaar details, the collector said. Earlier, the collector launched Rs 2, 243 crore annual credit plan of which, Rs 500 crore was allocated for the beneficiaries of micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) and remaining Rs 1,690 crore for other priority sectors like housing, heath and education.
