Tamil Nadu handicrafts at Shilpi Haat

New Delhi, Dec 24 (KNN) In an effort to promote authentic handicrafts, the Tamil Nadu government is exhibiting its exclusive hand- crafted products in the ongoing display cum sale at Shilpi Haat trade fair here.
 
The 15- day event which began on December 16 will continue till December 31, 2013 at Rajiv Gandhi Handicrafts Bhawan in the national capital is organised by the Tamil Nadu Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited with its brand name Poompuhar.

 
The exhibition is presenting a range of products like bronze theme, brass lamp, wooden carving and tanjavoor paintings from handicraft unit. It will also display a variety of handloom products like Kancheevaram sarees, Madurai sarees, cotton suits material, Kanyakumari embroidery and many more.
 
The corporation aims to encourage and sharpen the talent of artisans by training them, helping them improve their product quality and providing them social security by marketing their products.
 
Poompuhar trains artisans, helping them to cater to the changing demands of consumers. It also helps preserve traditional culture, making sure this ancient art and craft forms do not die out.
