V R Sharma shortlisted for CEO of the Year award

 KOLKATA: V R Sharma, Dy MD & CEO, Steel Business, Jindal Steel and PowerBSE 0.66 % Limited (JSPL) has been named as one of the finalists for CEO of the Year award by Platts Global Metal Awards 2013. 

Mr Sharma is the first and only Indian in the category this year which includes other finalists like, Mr Kalus Klenfield of Alcoa Inc, Mr Mathew De Morgan of Dufferco SA, Mr Martin
AbbottBSE -0.73 % of the London Metal Exchange, among others.

The inaugural Platts Global Metals Awards, modeled after Platts Global Energy Awards, now in its 15th year, is a competitive awards program honoring excellence and accomplishments in the global metals industry.

The Platts Global Metals Awards will be presented at a black-tie gala attracting metals industry leaders from around the world on Thursday, May 23, 2013 in London.

The finalists for the 'CEO of the Year' award have been chosen based on their performance for each category's criteria within the designated time frame.

Being recognized as a finalist or winner brings unparalleled recognition for their teams and individuals behind their outstanding achievements.

Mr Sharma has more than 30 years of experience in the
steel industry and has worked in India and abroad.

During his tenure, he has worked on a variety of assignments with Arrasate Steel, Spain, Socialist Steels
Libya, Lloyd Steel Group, India, Ispat Industries, India and Bhushan SteelBSE 0.47 % Group India.

Prior to joining JSPL, Sharma was working with Bhushan Power & Steel Ltd. as Joint Managing Director.

He has played a key role in managing large Greenfield Projects and expansions and driving the growth of the organisations through
mergers and acquisitions, creating large business opportunities leading to exponential growth in marketing and operations in global scenario.
