Karnataka State Coir Development Corporation Limited is a Government of Karnataka Enterprises was established in the year 1985 with the main objective of developing coir based activity and also to promote coir industries in private sector by disseminating information on the opportunities available for coir products, both in domestic and international markets.  Coir activity is a labour intensive one providing employment opportunity mainly to the rural women of SC/ST section. The Corporation provides need based training for fresher’s and advanced training for existing workers to hone their skills in coir product making.  The produce obtained from these workers are sold by the Corporation. It is a major task by the Corporation to improve the economic condition of the rural women especially SC/ST.

Karnataka State Coir Development Corporation Limited has 39 production centres situated at southern districts of Karnataka, which are engaged in production of various coir products viz; Coir Fibre, Coir Yarn, Coir Mats and Mattings, Curled Rope, Coir Pith Manure, Coir Composite Boards etc. and also 5 sales outlets for marketing and selling its products.
